Because Jesus was in perfect relationship with his Father, he was always found to be praying. And because you have been reconciled to your Heavenly Father through Jesus, you are invited to pray daily. One time Jesus’ disciples asked if he would teach them to pray, and he gave them a simple, short, yet powerful prayer: The Lord’s Prayer. The early Christians prayed and prayed this continually, for they knew their Lord, trusted his grace, and wanted to follow with their lives. The earliest Christian discipleship manual (around 100 AD) tells Christians to pray the Lord’s Prayer at least three times a day. Why? Not because God has promised to grant our wishes if we pray enough. We pray because we are reconciled children of our Heavenly Father.
